What does the Air-Stream Committee do?

The Committee is comprised of eight members, who meet regularly to discuss the day-to-day operation of the organisation and make decisions about it’s future direction. They are responsible for ensuring that the organisation sticks to its aims and objectives as detailed in the the constitution.

The Committee:

  • Provides direction and leadership for the club.
  • Ensures that the club is operating to the best of its ability and according to applicable legislation.
  • Manages the club finances and memberships.
  • Develops policies and procedures to educate members and ensure they are aware of important issues related to the club’s activities.
  • Performs ongoing development and review of a mission and promotes the aims of the association.
  • Organises events and activities for the membership to get involved.
  • Liaises with other community groups.
  • Looks for opportunities to actively promote Air-Stream.

Committee members must:

  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Always act in the best interest of the club.
  • Be approachable and friendly.
  • Understand their responsibilities and be conscientious about performing their role.
  • Be able to use initiative and common sense.
  • Be unbiased and have an open mind.
  • Have a clear understanding of the constitution and code of conduct, and abide by them.

The Committee benefits greatly from a wide variety of different skills and experience brought to the table by each of its members.

A good committee member does not need to be technically minded or have any special skills, but needs to make themselves available for monthly meetings and volunteer to complete important tasks each month. Any financial member can nominate any other financial member to stand for election on the committee, however, the constitution does not allow members to nominate themselves.

Nominations

If you wish to nominate someone, you must do so in writing by e-mail to secretary@air-stream.org by midnight, 27th of October 2014. Your nominees will then be notified via their Air-Stream email account and asked if they accept the nomination.

There are 8 positions available for the 2014 Committee.

NB: There can at times be a considerable time commitment required by a committee member, and this should be considered by all nominees. It is expected that a committee member will attend to all monthly meetings and be available for regular communication during the year.
